On 13th Sept, top seeds Sania Mirza of India and Martina Hingis of Switzerland beat the fourth-seeded pair of Casey Dellacqua of Australia and Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan 6-3, 6-3 to win the US Open women's doubles title at the US Open in New York. The win marked the Indo-Swiss pair's second Grand Slam title as a team this season after their title triumph at Wimbledon.

On 8 August, England regained the Ashes after wrapping up a spectacular victory over Australia on the third morning of the fourth Test at Trent Bridge. England's second successive three-day triumph gives them an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series with one match to play.
